Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about using MedPal for anonymous, accessible healthcare without insurance

How much does MedPal cost for patients?

Healthcare providers on MedPal set their own fees for audio-only, video, and in-person appointments. You can be confident in finding a provider that fits your budget and will save money compared to using insurance. You won't face high deductibles, co-payments, or unexpected charges for uncovered medical care. This approach simplifies healthcare, focusing on the direct relationship between you and your provider, eliminating the need to deal with insurance companies.

What type of healthcare providers are available through MedPal?

MedPal offers a diverse range of healthcare professionals to meet your needs, whether on-demand or by appointment. Our platform includes physicians, nurses, physical therapists, pharmacists, advanced practice providers, nutritionists, massage therapists, and many other types of providers.

How can I be sure of the quality of providers when I search?

We ensure quality by credentialing all providers, a thorough verification process. All listed providers are licensed professionals. You can review their qualifications and background, and also leave your own reviews. Every provider on MedPal is a trained professional recognized by state and national governing boards and societies.

Does MedPal accept insurance?

We do not process any insurance claims. All transactions are solely for the professional services rendered by your provider. There are no insurances involved whatsoever, and nothing is transacted other than the professional services you receive from the provider.

What happens if I need to cancel my appointment?

Cancellations are generally not an issue, except for the following cases where a 50% fee (up to a maximum of $100) will be charged: Canceling an audio or video call within 15 minutes of the scheduled time, or canceling an in-person appointment within 1 hour of the scheduled time.

What if I need to reschedule my appointment?

You can easily reschedule your appointment by canceling your existing one and then requesting a new time with your provider. To ensure your provider's time is respected, please cancel at least 24 hours before a future appointment or 2 hours before an appointment scheduled for the same day. Our direct connection system eliminates the need for front desk interactions or automated menus, allowing you to connect directly with your provider to find a time that works for both of you.

What if my connection is poor or drops during a call?

You have one minute to reconnect while the other party waits. If the call drops again after re-establishing the connection, you get a second attempt. If the connection remains poor and the encounter cannot be completed, our cancellation policy will apply. We recommend ensuring a strong internet or cell phone signal. You can also try to reschedule, and with your provider's permission, we will help mitigate any charges.

What if I just want a second opinion?

That is a great reason to use MedPal. Not only can you get education and tap into a provider's brain, but you may find that you want a second opinion from a totally different specialist. Oh yeah, and your providers can "tag in" a specialist of their liking at any time during your encounters. Cool, huh?

Can I be an anonymous user on MedPal?

Yes. MedPal actually allows you to remain completely anonymous. We feel that this breaks barriers to allow you to access care and ask questions freely without worrying about the stigma of a particular problem.

How is my information secured?

MedPal prioritizes the privacy and security of your health information above all else. Our platform is built with robust, state-of-the-art encryption technologies to ensure that all data transmitted and stored within our system is fully protected from unauthorized access. We adhere strictly to all regulations outlined by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), a federal law that establishes national standards to protect sensitive patient health information from being disclosed without the patient's consent or knowledge.

This commitment to HIPAA compliance means that MedPal implements comprehensive administrative, physical, and technical safeguards. Administratively, our staff undergoes regular training on privacy policies and procedures, ensuring a deep understanding of data handling best practices. Physically, our data centers are secured with multi-layered access controls, environmental monitoring, and surveillance to prevent any unauthorized entry or damage. Technically, in addition to strong encryption, we employ access controls, audit trails, and data integrity measures to monitor and protect information as it moves through our system.

Can I schedule a session in the future?

MedPal makes it easy to schedule a session based on your chosen provider's availability. On the provider's profile, simply select a listed available day, choose your preferred time slot, and confirm your session. It's quick and seamless.

What information will I need to provide to schedule a session?

Users only need to share their symptoms, gender, and general age group. You may also provide your preferred name and any relevant medical history, such as medications, allergies, or past surgeries. Only the information you choose to share will be sent to the doctor.
